Why
According to the Australian Medical Council 31% of doctors practicing in Australia — and 56% of doctors working in general practice — did their medical training overseas.
"Australia is blessed because so many people like you come from around the world to practice medicine in this country. You serve the community, your bring your culture, you bring your breadth of experience, you bring your ideas from around the world."Dr Vijay Roach, Chair of the International Medical Graduate Assessment Experiences and Performance Project Advisory Group.
And increasingly Australia is becoming a country that not just wants but NEEDS overseas-trained doctors. A workforce report from the Australian Medical Association has shown that increasing demand for GP services has left Australia short at least 860 general practitioners, which is projected to balloon to over 10,000 in less than 10 years. And these impacts are felt hardest in rural and remote areas, where around 30% of the Australian population—or 7 million people—currently live and often face long wait times or distances to access health care.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
You'll be working in a modern, world-class health care system. In the Commonwealth Fund’s recent report comparing the performance of health systems in ten developed countries, Australia ranked first for equity, health care outcomes, and overall for health care system performance.*
*David Blumenthal et al., Mirror, Mirror 2024: A Portrait of the Failing U.S. Health System — Comparing Performance in 10 Nations (Commonwealth Fund, Sept. 2024). https://doi.org/10.26099/ta0g-zp66
You will often be working in rural environments with less ready access to specialty care, significantly increasing and broadening your clinical skills. You'll also have the option to challenge yourself in even more remote environments, and help make a difference to the lives of Australia's First Nations people.
Australia is ranked fourth in the highest-paying countries for doctors, so the opportunity to be well remunerated is high, enabling you to live the type lifestyle you desire.
You will also be fortunate enough to enjoy a high standard of living, as Australia far out performs the average in the OECD Better Life Index.
Not only do these factors make Australia a great place to raise a family, but you can also be assured they will enjoy a world-class education system, which currently includes three of the world's top 20 universities.
And it goes without saying that Australia is renowned for its unique natural environment...
...that provides an enviable variety of sporting and recreational activities.
WHY USE US?
Because we work for YOU. We are not recruiters — we are not hired by employers to fill their vacancy and solve their problem. We act solely for you and in your best interest — our mission is to assist you to maximise your potential right from the start in a new and unfamiliar environment. We do so by providing advice and guidance on all aspects of your journey to a fulfilling and successful life in Australia.
We take the heartache out of the entire, significantly complex and lengthy process. We know the hacks, and have the inside knowledge to make it as efficient as possible, ensuring you can focus instead on being a clinician.
We will find the most appropriate job in a location that best suits your career and lifestyle needs. We will then do all the negotiations to secure you the best possible salary package.
Our medical director is an experienced general practitioner and Fellow of the RACGP, who will guide you through the medical credentialling, accreditation, and training process.
Our lawyer is also an accomplished migration agent with hundreds of successful visa applicants now settled in Australia. He will guide you through the immigration process (all the way through to Permanent Residency and Citizenship if desired), as well as ensure other legal matters are expertly handled.
We will assist in handling the myriad of personal and logistic requirements of relocating to a new country, to make the process as smooth and pain-free as possible.
Later we can assist you in your own medical practice acquisition and setup, where you may be able to offer the same job opportunities to future IMGs that you had.
WHY NOW?
Is the health system in which you're currently working getting better or worse? Leave now before the crowd!
With Australia needing more overseas-trained doctors the government is now actively promoting this, so the longer you delay the more likely those more desirable job locations get filled.
Yet to start a family? Make the move now so there's less disruption to those vital early childhood years, and have your kids start their lives in a safe country with endless opportunities.
